Miracle March Keeping More Slopes Open Than You Might Think
Hanging out in the city this spring, enjoying the slowly warming weather, makes it easy to move into a summer mind-set. Â Especially if you live in the east where the winter (was that even winter) was terrible this year.
But a lot of work snowmaking to build decent bases for the season, plus a number of random snow producing weather systems, have allowed many resorts to keep their slopes open, some announcing into mid-to-late May even.
As is typical every year, Whistler will be shutting down the Whistler Mountain side of the resort earlier (April 17th) so they can start prepping for the wicked summer mountain bike season. With the amazing temps and weather, those bikers are just itching to get out on the trails, and we do have to share our mountain love.
While the peak on Blackcomb side never closes, switching to a training ground in the summer, with a continued amount of late-season major-pow, the lower parts of the mountain are maintaining their pack as well, so they have announced an extension to the public season through May 30th. We might get lucky and this might get pushed again. *Fingers crossed*
The Ski Season is over yet...
While there's a number of resorts that have closed up for the season, or have announced this to be their final weekend, there's still time to look forward and plan a quick getaway to a number of resorts who plan to be open for a while yet.

Ontario is Losing it...
Most hills in Ontario have shuttered for the season... many starting to prep for the summer bike season. Â But a few, including Blue Mountain, and some of the private clubs are still holding on... but it's day-to-day.
Weather is a fickle business
Remember these dates can change without notice, and conditions will be not ideal... but that's the fun of the spring ski adventure.
We'd like to thank SnowBrains for getting us started on this list.
