OUTSLOPES Toronto will be participating in this year's OutSport Toronto Sports Zone as part of Pride celebrations in Toronto.
We Need Your Help
This annual event is an opportunity to get out and active within the community and share your love and passion for skiing and snowboarding with others in the community.
This year, OUTSLOPES Toronto has accepted the responsibility to be callers for the always popular dunk tank.
This is perhaps one of the most fun activities at Sports Zone as it allows direct interaction with the general public. Â You get to meet all sorts of different people, and be loud and funny in the process.
We need your help as a volunteer to help run the Dunk Tank.
Responsibilities include:
- Selling ball throws (raising money to help cover OutSport Toronto's Pride Activation Costs)
- Helping to coordinate the dunkees (volunteers from other LGBT Sport Leagues in Toronto) Â They are all pre-scheduled by OutSport Toronto, you just need to make sure the volunteers get breaks and rotate.
SportsZone will operate from 12 noon to 6pm on both Saturday and Sunday of the
We will have 6 shifts so that volunteers aren't stuck working all day, but feel free to register for more than one shift to help us out.

This year SportsZone moves from Pride Weekend to the weekend before during the Church-Wellesley Village Association Village Fair.
Reason for this change:
Toronto Pride is one of the largest Pride celebrations in the world, with an annual estimated attendance of over 1 million people. Â However, it was determined that as a result, during the main Pride Weekend, the village was full of tourists and out of town visitors who were not all that interested in local sports leagues, making it challenging to reach those who would actually be interested in our clubs and leagues.
Further to this, most clubs and leagues found it a challenge to secure volunteers to help work booths and activations as everyone had pride plans with their friends, and just didn't have time to hang out in a booth talking about their sport.
For a couple of years now the Village BIA has been operating a village festival on the weekend prior to Pride Weekend which tends to be very well attended by local members of the LGBTQ community, the ones who would be most interested in learning about the various sports and leagues that exist in Toronto.
So the decision was made to move OutSport Toronto's SportsZone to this weekend instead.
Location:
This year with the move to the Village BIA Festival weekend, SportsZone gets a much higher profile location, right on Church Street, spanning from Alexander Street to the north, and Wood Street to the south.
The Dunk Tank will be located at the south end of SportsZone, on the east side of the street, just beside Hair of the Dog Pub.
